Juuka Church

Welcome to a beautiful wooden church

The beau­ti­ful woo­den evan­ge­li­cal Lut­he­ran church in Juua was built in 1850-1851 and so­lemn­ly inau­gu­ra­ted on 10 Ju­ly 1859. The church was de­sig­ned by arc­hi­tect C. A. Gus­tavs­son, but the bell to­wer was built by the peop­le of Juu them­sel­ves in 1796.

It can seat 800 peop­le. The church or­gan is a 22-voi­ce mec­ha­ni­cal or­gan ma­de by the Kan­ga­sa­la or­gan fac­to­ry in 1974.

The al­tar­pie­ce is a rep­ro­duc­tion by Kaar­lo Kil­jan­der (1885) of an al­tar­pie­ce pain­ted by A. von Bec­ker, which was dest­ro­yed by fi­re.
